Workshop Title: The Sensorimotor Training to improvement in the postural control and falls prevention
Workshop Abstract: The sensorimotor training (SMT) improves the stability and postural control and also improves the muscles reflexes mechanisms and joints mobility and stability, is for sure the main factor to improve injuries prevention. The neuromuscular control depends on the appropriate integration of different sensory inputs (visual, vestibular, and somatosensorials), and motor afferents, it is necessary an integration between the information from the joints to the different levels of our central nervous system (spinal cord, brainstem, cerebellum and cortex) and the specific response to the muscles in an attempt to keep joint stability.
The neuro muscular training improve the sensoriomotor system and is very important to subject the less trained or elderly population. If strength training is combined with SMT it can be highly advised with the aim of reducing the risk of falls and an appropriate stimulus due to the neuromuscular constraints of age-related can improve of the rate of Force. The exercises of the program of SMT are highly efficient and promote an improvement in processing of information of the proprioceptive system and have a great impact on the health of neuromuscular system.
