Keynote Title: Representative design of practice tasks in team sports – From research to practice

Abstract:
Over the last years, the physical and physiological demands of training sessions and competitions were easily and accurately assessed through the external and internal workload of players. Recently, the evaluation of the tactical demands of training exercises and its comparison with match performance has received increased attention from researchers, analysts and coaches. To improve the transfer between practice tasks and performance environments an important concept to consider, based on ecological dynamics approach, is the representative design of practice task. This concept emphasizes the correspondence between the demands of competition and the structure inherent to the training exercises across practice sessions. This communication will share how my experience as a high performance Futsal coach and researcher can combine the empirical and scientific knowledge to continuously improve players and team performance based on the idea of representative design. Some examples of representative practice tasks of Futsal will be presented and discussed.
